When we come to God – not looking for what He can do for us – but just desiring to be in His presence – just wanting to give love to Him – then we have at last grasped what we were created for. Here lies the ultimate fulfilment – of this life – and for all eternity.
Spurgeon wrote:- “The mark of a life governed by the Holy Spirit is that such a life is continually and ever more and more occupied with Christ, that Christ is becoming greater and greater as time goes on. That is the way of Life.“
As we contemplate
The Apostle Paul sees the renewal of our minds as happening as we contemplate what Jesus did on the Cross – “That you… may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” (Ephesians 3:18 -19)
A.W. Tozer wrote “While we are looking at God we do not see ourselves – blessed riddance. The man who has struggled to purify himself and has had nothing but repeated failures will experience real relief when he stops tinkering with his soul and looks away to the perfect One. While he looks at Christ, the very things he has so long been trying to do will be getting done within him. It will be God working in him to will and to do“
